Kia ora Koutou Kātoa Toi Iho Artists
Since 2012, a group of us have been working to establish a public Māori Art Gallery for Māori artists, Māori curators, and Māori Governors only. We launched the Wairau Māori Art Gallery on 19 February inside the Hundertwasser Art Centre, Whangarei, and opened the inaugural ‘Puhi Ariki’ exhibition curated by Nigel Borell, which is up until Matariki, 24 June 2022.
We have a shop inside the Hundertwasser Art Centre and we are seeking merchandise of high quality by established Māori artists. We are not a commercial gallery and small artworks will be on sale in the shop. The Trustees would be grateful if you have work we could promote and sell on your behalf. The shop is entirely professional and Māori art will be a key feature of our displays, alongside the Hundertwasser merchandise. Artists set their prices. We intend to sell The Best of Māori Art which is a mantra for Toi Iho.
I hope all is well with you and your whanau in these uncertain Omnicron times. Let me know if you need more information.
